Afghan Whigs playing 'Black Love' benefit shows for guitarist Dave Rosser who was diagnosed w/ inoperable colon cancer

In very sad news, guitarist Dave Rosser of the Afghan Whigs has been diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer. The band broke the news in a Facebook post today where they also announced a pair of benefit shows in New Orleans and Los Angeles to raise money for Dave’s treatment. Greg Dulli says “Dave Rosser has been my close friend and bandmate for over a decade now. By doing these shows for him we hope to ease any financial stress he may face as he pursues treatment to combat his illness. 100% of the proceeds from these shows will go to his medical care. I’m hopeful that folks will come out and show their support for Dave who will be performing with us.”

Those shows will find the Afghan Whigs playing their 1996 album Black Love in its entirety with a big lineup of guests like Ani DiFranco, Mark Lanegan, Moby and many more. The New Orleans show is on December 10 at the Civic Theater, and the LA show is December 14 at the Teragram Ballroom. Tickets for New Orleans and LA go on sale Friday (11/4) at 10 AM.

There’s also a Gofundme page for Dave’s medical care.

Our thoughts are with you, Dave. Check out more details about the benefit shows in the full facebook post here.
