Agalloch to replace Ulver at Maryland Deathfest

Fans were justifiably bummed when early Norwegian black metal greats turned experimentalists Ulver dropped off the Maryland Death Fest bill (May 22-25) due to health concerns. The loss left a notable gap on the Friday, May 23 Edison Lot lineup that featured the likes of heavy hitters like At the Gates and Taake. The MDF organizers took it in stride, though, and replaced Ulver with none other than the fantastic American atmospheric black metal band Agalloch.

Agalloch performed at Maryland Death Fest for the first time in 2012. The band’s second appearance this spring will come right on the heels of the release of the band’s fifth album, The Serpent & The Sphere, due out May 13 via Profound Lore. This will be the first chance to catch Agalloch (presumably) play the new material live on the east coast, so, Agalloch fans, rejoice.

In other MDF lineup news, Dallas grind band Kill the Client will take the place of In Disgust, who recently split up.

A couple of Agalloch song streams lie after the jump…

Agalloch – “Falling Snow”

Agalloch – “Limbs”
