French post-metal/shoegaze outfit Alcest are prepping a new album called Kodama, their follow-up to 2014's very non-metal Shelter. Kodama is due out September 30 via Prophecy, and Alcest have shared the new track "Oiseaux De Proie," which you can listen to below.

"Oiseaux De Proie" is a nicely textured track that contains a lot of different musical strains coexisting beautifully. There are elements of shoegaze and post-rock here, along with strains of the black metal with which Alcest made their name and some more immediate, poppier influences (The Cure gets namechecked in the Noisey premiere of the new song, which rings weirdly accurate). It's a long, pretty, always-engaging listen.
