Alejandro Escovedo & The Minus 5 played Long Island after City Winery run (pics)

Alejandro Escovedo‘s tour with The Minus 5 hit NYC last week for a run of shows at City Winery. Following those, they hit Bay Shore, NY’s Boulton Center on Sunday night (1/22) and pictures from that show are in this post. As they’ve been doing on this whole tour, The Minus Five opened the show then stuck around as Alejandro’s backing band. The Minus 5’s Scott McCaughey (also Young Fresh Fellows) and Peter Buck (R.E.M.) produced and played on his album, too, so it’s all a nice bit of synergy.

Needless to say, it was a real treat seeing The Minus 5, which also includes manic Fastbacks/Young Fresh Fellows guitarist Kurt Bloch on this tour, backing Alejandro, and everyone seemed to be having a blast. Both sets threw in some covers: The Minus 5 covered Yoko Ono & John Lennon’s “Sisters, O Sisters” and Nice as Fuck’s “Guns”; while Escovedo covered “All the Young Dudes” and Heartbreakers classic “Chinese Rocks.” Setlists are below and a pics from the Boulton Center are in the gallery above.
