The excellent folk singer Alela Diane will follow 2015's collaborative album with Ryan Francesconi, Cold Moon, with Cusp next week (2/9) via AllPoints (pre-order). Alela wrote the album in a cabin in the woods (true story), and it's her first album since becoming a mother. "I hope that by exploring motherhood in song, I can help demand respect for the life givers we are. Talking and singing about the experience of motherhood is not something I can shy away from. It is the essence of who we are as human beings. This album is my version of women’s work," Alela said.

Ahead of the album's release, she released Michael Palmieri-directed videos for "Émigré" and "Ether & Wood," both of which are very beautiful, somber folk songs and well worth your time. Watch both below.

Alela has a Europe/UK tour with Olivia Chaney (who released a collaborative album with The Decemberists as Offa Rex last year) coming up, followed by US shows in San Francisco, her hometown of Portland, and Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn show happens May 26 at National Sawdust. Tickets are on sale now. All dates are listed below.
