AlunaGeorge @ MHOW - 9/6/13
UK pop duo AlunaGeorge are currently in North America for their first-ever tour here, and they've had quite the run leading up to it. Their debut EP, You Know You Like It, came out on boutique electronic label Tri Angle Records and it was announced soon after that they signed to Island, who would release their eventual debut album. After almost a year-long run of releasing singles (and a huge collaboration with Disclosure), that album, Body Music, finally came out.
The band's North American tour began with Chicago's North Coast Music Festival, then Philly's Made In America Festival, and it hit NYC last week for two sold out shows with Chicago production duo/Polica collaborators Supreme Cuts at Bowery Ballroom (9/5) and Music Hall of Williamsburg (9/6). The sets included a good chunk of the new album, plus their Disclosure collaboration, "White Noise" and their cover of Montell Jordan's "This Is How We Do It" (which is featured as a bonus track on their album). They played as a full band, with producer/instrumentalist George Reid on keyboards and singer AlunaFrancis dancing and controlling the stage for a set that kept the MHOW crowd moving. Pictures of the MHOW show are in this post.
More of those, including one of the setlist, and a couple videos below...
