Amanda Palmer released her first post-Dresden Dolls solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, ten years ago in 2008, and while she’s only released one other official full length since then (2012’s Theatre is Evil, with the Grand Theft Orchestra) she’s kept plenty busy, releasing music with Edward Ka-Spel of Legendary Pink Dots and her father, among other projects. Now she’s set to return with her third full length album, There Will Be No Intermission, due out March 8, 2019. John Congleton produced the album, which was recorded over a month with frequent collaborator Jason Webley, programmer/keyboardist Max Henry, drummer Joey Waronker, and another longtime collaborator, Jherek Bischoff, who arranged the orchestral instrumentals between songs. There Will Be No Intermission was entirely crowd-funded through subscribers to Amanda’s Patreon, and you can see its tracklist and (NSFW) cover below.

Included on There Will Be No Intermission are some songs that have been longtime live favorites, like Amanda’s cover of Dillie Keane’s “Look Mummy, No Hands,” as well as more recent releases like a tribute to Judy Blume on her 80th birthday. Other songs tackle abortion, cancer, motherhood, and politics. Amanda has shared a new song, “Drowning in the Sound,” which you can listen to below. Its chorus pays tribute to Prince and Ani DiFranco, two of Amanda’s musical idols.

Amanda is going on a solo North American theater tour in 2019, starting with SXSW in March, and including a show at NYC’s Beacon Theatre on April 20 as well as stops in Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Portand, and other cities. Tickets go on general sale Friday, December 14, and before that you can get tickets early to the whole tour (except Montreal and Nashville) on BrooklynVegan presale starting Thursday (12/13) at 10 AM local time. Check back Thursday morning for the password, and see all the dates below.

A companion book to There Will Be No Intermission containing over 50 portraits created with collaborative art team Kahn & Selesnick will be available to purchase at tour stops, as well.
