Alt-country singer, songwriter, and violinist Amanda Shires is on tour now supporting her great new album To The Sunset. If you haven't heard the album, it's something new for Shires, with more of a rock vibe and also with cool effects on her violin which give the album a really unique atmosphere. Last night (8/12), that tour hit Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium with well-matched support from Caitlin Rose, who pointed out that it was Amanda's first time headlining the venue and Caitlin's first Nashville show in two years. As pictured above, Amanda brought out her husband/frequent collaborator Jason Isbell for part of her set. She also did covers of The Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and Jason Molina's "To Be Simple." You can see some more pictures and videos from the show below.
Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell also played The Ryman together when Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit did a six-night run there last fall (Amanda also opened one of the shows and brought out Margo Price during her set). Recordings from those sessions have been turned into the live album Live From The Ryman, which comes out October 19 via Jason Isbell's own Southeastern Records. You can pre-order it here.
