Legendary composer Ennio Morricone sadly passed away earlier this week, sparking an outpouring of tributes fellow musicians, creatives, and others, including Edgar Wright, Alison Goldfrapp, Metallica, Massive Attack, Portishead's Geoff Barrow, Flaming Lips' Steven Drozd, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, and fellow composer Hans Zimmer.

Andrew Bird also paid tribute, posting a new cover of Morricone's "A Fistful of Dollars" theme. Given Bird's talent for whistling, his choice to cover the whistle-filled song from the 1964 Spaghetti Western film of the same name, which saw Clint Eastwood starring in his first leading role, was a particularly fitting choice.

As Bird wrote in his post, Morricone was the author of "so many great melodies and creative instrumentation." You can watch his video below.

In addition to this, Bird has been regularly posting various covers and performing via livestream on his Facebook throughout quarantine. Today, he posted a rendition of his classic track, "Armchairs," which you can watch below. Additionally, he recently performed from Old Style Guitar Shop for their first "Performance Now!" livestream (which you can also find below).
