Andrew Bird touring this summer, playing free Prospect Park show w/ Esperanza Spalding
Andrew Bird will be on tour for much of the summer, including dates with Esperanza Spalding, Belle & Sebastian and more dates with The Lumineers.
The run with Esperanza Spalding includes a big, free NYC show as part of the 2017 BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival in Prospect Park on Friday, July 28.
Andrew and Esperanza have collaborated before and you can watch them together on Andrew’s Facebook Live show “Live From the Great Room” below.
Speaking of, Andrew’s “Great Room” guest this week as Theaster Gates. Here’s what Andrew writes about that:
Though he is musical and music has a part in his multimedia work, This will be my first guest that isn’t technically a musician. He is one of the most exciting artists to emerge in the last decade. Starting out as a sculptor and his work has expanded to many materials even those that make up a community turning an entire city block on chicago’s south side in to an art center and social experiment. It is art that goes beyond the static museum and gallery environment.
…Theaster and I are collaborating on some songs based on his recent show at regen projects “but to be a poor race”. Think of this as a live workshop where we set to turn his poems into songs.
