You may have heard that earlier this week rapper Angel Haze tried to pull a Death Grips and leak her new album Dirty Gold as a reaction to being unhappy with the way her label Island/Republic was handling its release. She uploaded the entire album to her Soundcloud page, but it was deleted pretty much immediately. Her angry Twitter rant (via Pitchfork) read:

It’s so annoying that my label could tell me that if I fucking finished my album before the summer it would be out this year. I have gone to bat for this music. I have gone to bat for myself. I have literally sat fucking sleepless and starved crying over this shit. I turned down so much shit to be sure that I could finish this album because actually wanting something to me means doing all you can to be sure that it’s attainable. I stopped arguing my point. Stopped giving a fuck about everything. Let these other ditsy bitches disrespect me. I turned my fucking cheek because MUSIC IS ALL I FUCKING HAVE. And I know that’s the same for some of you. I did everything I could for you. I did not promise an album and not deliver, unlike every fucking one else. I sat my ass down and came up with this music WHEN I HAD NOTHING. Taking shit on the chin does not mean sitting back and letting the world beat and suck you fucking dry. It’s knowing something is bigger than anything you are or will ever be and sitting the fuck down and complying to get shit done. I’m sorry if I seem angry. But these are my dreams. The only thing I have in my life. Imagine having the only reason you’re alive being the very thing straining your existence. Ughhhh… So sorry to Island/Republic Records, but fuck you. I got here doing this for my fans and if you guys don’t feel the same, it won’t stop me. Idc what happens after this. They will get the music they were promised. And you guys JUST MAY LEARN TO KEEP YOUR FUCKING WORD.

This didn’t entirely come out of nowhere either. A Billboard article from earlier this month reads:

[Angel’s manager Nicola] Carson keeps checking Haze’s SoundCloud page every morning. “If I didn’t have Angel on lockdown, she’d just put [the album] up there,” Carson says with a laugh. “She wants people to hear it now. She’s so caught up in the moment and the creative space. She doesn’t get caught up in the politics.”

Even if Angel wasn’t able to keep the leak on soundcloud, it looks like she got her wish to have the album released by the end of the year, as Island/Republic have now moved the release date from March 3 to December 30. Regarding the new release date, Angel writes on Twitter:

Behind every rebel is a fucking reason. Just want to say thank you guys for your support today. Thanks to those who heard the album and fucked with it. Thanks to everyone who stood up for me. My labels didn’t think that I would do it, but I did. It’s hard to put at risk everything I’ve spent this year working on but I had to for both me and you guys. No one should ever be afforded the opportunity to fuck with your dreams. REGARDLESS OF WHO THEY ARE. They do not own you or your faith or your future and because of what you guys helped me show them. My labels have agreed to release Dirty Gold December 30th. Uk & US. (Rest of the world, we are coming for you as well). Thank you all. Night

That makes three major releases for December 2013.
