Arcade Fire venues & The High Line Festival lineup (finally)

Win Butler isn’t doing so well, but assuming he gets better soon, this is what (where) NYC has to look forward to:

Arcade Fire in NYC, May 2007
7 – United Palace Theatre (175th St)
8 – United Palace Theatre (175th St)
9 – Radio City Music Hall (Inaugural High Line Festival Event)

The Highline Festival

Yep, even David Bowie seems to know that this announcement didn’t live up to the hype…

“I thought it a very cool deal to be asked to curate the Highline Festival. The request was for me to choose artists and acts that I myself would go out of my way to see. Although this inaugural year will be modest in scale we’ve been pretty lucky in that many whom I asked have accepted.

I’m also pleased that many emerging artists are participating alongside more established talents that represent a fairly wide cross section of disciplines within the arts community. I would really hope that the exposure this festival affords will help these folk get the attention they deserve.”

The only real surprise is that TV on the Radio won’t be playing the festival at all. The Polyphonic Spree were a surprise too I guess, but at Hammerstein? Air seems to be touring with or without David Bowie’s approval, Daniel Johnston used to be exciting, and this will be the third time Deerhoof plays Irving Plaza in less than a year.

And is the fact that some of “the High Line” is at the “the Highline” a coincidence, or are they related somehow? Is the Highline Ballroom under the High Line which the H&M High Line festival is benefitting?

No offense to anyone involved. I’m sure all or most of the shows will be great – including the non-“music” ones below….
