Fiery Furnaces OUT, Daniel Lanois IN @ River to River

I expressed some hope that the Fiery Furnaces would still be playing a free show for the NYC River to River festival on July 27th when I originally posted the schedule. We now know, that will not be happening. From the River to River schedule:

Hudson River Festival: Daniel Lanois
Date: 07/27/2005
Time: 7pm
Description: Grammy®-award winner David Lanois, called “the most important record producer to emerge in the 80’s” by Rolling Stone, has drawn international praise for his work with U2, Peter Gabriel and Bob Dylan. Musically, he has shown a flair for delicate, atmospheric touches, both in producing material for other musicians and in his own projects as a composer and recording artist. NOTE: while the Fiery Furnaces’ were originally scheduled to perform on this date, their cancellation of their summer tour included The River to River Festival at Rockefeller Park.

(did they call him David?) (thx Mark)
