I am beyond happy to report Aziz and co. have finished most of the shooting for The Human Giant and that they’re back in NYC for edits, test screenings, and all that good stuff. Being back in NYC means we can also look forward to Aziz’s signature UCB show Crash Test. They already have four shows scheduled at UCB – that includes the one Aziz talks about above. Check out a new Human Giant clip (first previewed at UCB last Monday) below these….

Human Giant clip, David Cross, Sarah Silverman, and MORE – BELOW….

WATCH DAVID CROSS ON Drinks w/ LX!
* probably the most interesting DC interview I’ve seen in a while….

In the interview, David mentions how he is slowly trying to get back into stand-up but that, at the moment, he kinda sucks, his material isn’t honed, and that it’s going to be lame for the next few months. I hate to admit it, but he’s right. I caught the final Hot Tub Variety Show at Comix featuring Eugene Mirman and David Cross and Eugene was easily the highlight of the evening. He killed! David’s bits, though truly still funny, meandered a bit too much and it felt sort of convoluted. It is killing me to say that, but it just didn’t feel strong or focused.

You can also catch David in the comedy tent at this years Bonnaroo with Lewis Black and Dave Attell. Unable to catch Bonaroo? Then try to see him at one of his other upcoming gigs.

MORE NEWS

Sarah SilvermanThe Sarah Silverman Program has been picked up for 14 more episodes. Yes! Sarah is also hosting BOTH NIGHTS of the Sasquatch! Music Festival. Check out the cheese joke she performed on the Independent Spirit Awards last week.

I am so happy to announce that The Sound of Young America is movin’ on up. Waaaaayyyy up. The Sound of Young America premired on WNYC-FM on Sunday March 4th at 6:00pm. WNYC is one of the nation’s biggest public radio stations and I couldn’t be happier that The Sound of Young America is getting a broadcast of this calibur.

Tom Scharpling and his program The Best Show on WFMU continue to play a crucial role in maintaining what I consider the essential and unavoidable relationship between rock and comedy. Why, just look at his programs from the past few weeks. On 1/2/07 he had Paul F. Tompkins on the show. Then on 2/6/07 he had comedy duo Time and Eric on the show. THEN just the other day on 2/13/07 he had Zach Galifianakis on the program.

Speaking of Tom Scharpling, the 4th volume of the incredible Best of Scharpling & Wurster will be coming out in April. Entitled The Art of the Slap, this three disc set will be released on Stereolaffs Records. More info HERE and HERE.

One of my favorite recurring things published on The Apiary is a series called From Behind the Bar at UCB. I find it really interesting to read the ruminations of one of the bartenders at one of NYC’s premier comedy venues. Anyhow, the piece is written by NYC based writer/performer Margot Leitman whom incidentally, can be seen on 2/15 at Mo Pitkins as she co-hosts Stripped Stories with Giulia Rozzi

Did you miss the 2/8/07 installment of A Muthaf*ckin’ Evening with Fabrice Fabrice. You missed a doozie. Luckily for you, Anya Garrett took some phenominal (and very representative) pictures at the show.

The Daily Show

For a pretty long time, The Daily Show stopped taking reservations for upcoming shows. I happened to be on the Daily Show Comedy Central page recently and noticed that they have a new (how new, I do not know) reservation system set-up that allows you to choose the day you want to see the show. Before it was more of a lottery where you sent in your name and availability and waited for your number to come up. Unfortunately, a lot of these dates already seem booked up and it takes a lot of trial and error in finding dates with vacancies. Anyhow, here’s the reservation system. Good luck, Commie!

The Colbert Report is not taking reservations.

Rififi will remain closed through March 1st, according to their website. Looks like their comedy shows will be back on track this week

Christopher Guest known for films Best In Show, Waiting For Guffman, Spinal Tap, and For Your Consideration is working on a pilot for ABC.

I love Chelsea Peretti’s blog
