Brooklyn Next — Feb 15-16 & Feb 20-24, 2008

over 175 performances @ 17 Brooklyn venues over two weeks

BAM announces the second annual Brooklyn Next, a series that celebrates Brooklyn’s groundbreaking diverse music scene, comprising off-site performances at venues on Brooklyn’s thriving club scene (including Barbès, Frank’s Lounge, Pete’s Candy Store, Southpaw, Union Hall, et al), two BAMfamily matinee concerts with Dan Zanes and Friends, free events in the BAMcafé (four nights of music featuring the Black Rock Coalition, JellyNYC, and Soul Summit Music), and mainstage performances at BAM (Soulive, Citizen Cope, and The National).

BAM Executive Producer Joseph V. Melillo commented, “Brooklyn Next provides an opportunity for BAM to celebrate the borough’s vibrant music scene and its wealth of talent. We’re thrilled to partner with many of Brooklyn’s most dynamic venues in this second annual program, and we’re excited to present exceptional artists in our own house.”

The second annual Brooklyn Next features 175 performances at seventeen Brooklyn venues over two weeks. Highlights include the country-folk of Laura Cantrell; the swaggering, swooning rock of Brooklyn’s Favourite Sons; a birthday tribute to Johnny Cash; the experimental electronica of Excepter; the happy jam-band rock of Washington D.C.’s Travis Morrison Hellfighters; the honky-tonk calypso rock of Bushwick’s White Rabbits; a highly-charged live performance by hip-hop group Nuclear Family; and the signature wit, anguished vocals, and orchestrated sound of Life In A Blender.

A full schedule of events follows. Check with venues or at BAM.org for updates and ticketing information.
