Jared McGuinness 1978-2008, a benefit @ Cake Shop

Jared McGuinness

Some bad news.

We were on hiatus and preparing to head to Berlin, however Jared McGuinness passed away on Jan 24th. He had been drinking heavily and took some of his Grandmothers prescription pills. They got him to the hospital were he was unconscious but stable. The doctors all thought he would come out of it and he was responding. His mother stayed with him all night. In the morning he took a turn for the worse went into seizures and his heart stopped.

We loved him so much and are still dealing with the fact that he is gone.

In honor of him his family is planning on setting up a music scholarship in his name at a school that doesn’t have a music program. In the coming months we are planning to put together a show with some of his favorite bands to raise some money for that scholarship.

Also we will release his solo album, The Blacks, that we have been working on and hope to cover the cost of production and give the rest to the scholarship.

AND, we will of course be releasing the final PRINT album, which will be the best yet.

We will keep you posted.

Thanks to everyone.

Much love,

Jarod, Eugene, Karen

The benefit show is this Thursday night, March 6th at Cake Shop in NYC…

Memorial Show / C.D. Release for Jared McGuinness

Come and say goodbye to Jared with us! Being in a band with Jared has brought so many great people into our lives and it would be wonderful to see you all on this night.

This show is one that Jared would have loved to put together himself. Here’s the details:

March 6th at Cakeshop

Drayton Sawyer Gang
My Teenage Stride
Crystal Stilts
and others

Also, we have finished his solo album, The Blacks, and only 50 copies of this special record will available. He wrote and recorded it at our studio and the various places he lived over the course of 2007. He would have be so very incredibly unbelievably excited at how it has turned out.

We hope to sell all of them as the proceeds from the sale of the record and the show will go to a music scholarship his family is setting up in his name.

Hope to see you!

as ever,

Jarod, Eugene, Karen.
