Rwake headlined the Slow Southern Steel day show at Room 710 on March 21st in Austin during SXSW, along with support from Hex Machine, The Roller, Seahag, Music Hates You, and last minute addition Zoroaster (following the drop out of ASG). The show was one of a few Rwake have played with new bassist Alan Wells (Shitfire):

Some of you have probably notice a change at the Rwake shows. We have a new band member. Our very old and close friend Alan Wells from the band Shitfire. There is no bad blood what so ever between us and Reid [Raley]. He is, and will forever be our brother. Things just happen. He stills jams with the ever crushing Deadbird, and we love them, and him.

We are also very honored to be jamming with our longtime friend Alan. What we have done so far has been well received. This weekend at SXSW from at least 8 people we heard that it was our best show ever. That makes us feel very good, and thanks to everyone there from all over the globe.

Turns out, those best shows may be their last shows for some time:

We are gonna try and take a small break from shows so that we can finish writing some more tunes. We have one 12 minute song now called “It Was Beautiful, But Now It’s Sour”, and an untitled 5 minuter so far. We have so much more written. We just need to take the time now to put it all together.

We’ll be back around October playing some new stuff. Thanks again to everyone hanging in there for the new tunes. -[Myspace]
