WATERS, the current project of fomer Port O’Brien frontman Van Pierszalowski, released their debut LP Out in the Light in the US on September 20 via TBD Records. Like they do at their live show, WATERS release a ton of energy on this record. At times the folkiness of Van’s previous project seeps through, but overall Out in the Light is a fun collection of fuzz guitar driven pop tunes that would feel right at home on ’90s college radio with bands like Harvey Danger and early Nada Surf.

You can also watch the video for lead single “For the One” below, which was directed by Allen Cordell, who has directed videos for Dan Deacon and Beach House. Download the song above. WATERS have a short run of dates coming up this October, including some CMJ shows. All of those shows haven’t been announced yet, but one of them is the ’10 Years of Fenway Recordings’ showcase at The Studio at Webster Hall on October 20 with We Are Scientists, Recover, The Static Jacks, Faces on Film (who just opened for the Shins), and others. Tickets go on sale Wednesday (9/28) at noon. The flier for this show is below. They’ll also play another NYC show before CMJ at Mercury Lounge on October 17. Tickets for this show go on sale Wednesday at noon too. Some of the dates are with Boy & Bear who are also playing CMJ, though no one else is listed on the Mercury bill at the moment.
