The Mark Lanegan Band played Bowery Ballroom, playing Webster Hall (and other dates)

The Mark Lanegan Band released their new album, Blues Funeral, earlier this month and played a NYC show in support of it on the day of the album’s release (2/7) at Bowery Ballroom.

The set paced eight of Blues Funeral’s 12 new tracks with favorites from Bubblegum and older solo releases, eventually closing on a Screaming Trees favorite during the encore. There wasn’t much Lanegan could’ve done on Tuesday night to piss off the sold-out crowd short of maybe calling it quits after one note. The evening’s disappointment came only after the encore of “Crawlspace” and “One Way Street,” when Lanegan closed on a pregnant pause instead of coming back for thirds. Scattered groans rose in tandem with the house lights, forcing fans to abide the 19-song set they received. [CMJ]

It was the band’s first show in support of the new album, which is Mark Lanegan’s first solo release since 2004. You can stream the entire album below (via MOJO) along with some videos and the setlist from the Bowery Ballroom show.

The band will continue to tour over the next few months, and upon returning to the US after an Australian run in late April, they’ll play NYC again on May 10 at Webster Hall. Tickets go on sale Friday (2/24) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (2/22) at noon. All tour dates are listed below.
