M83 and I Break Horses played Terminal 5 (pics, setlist)

Somewhere in the midst of bouncing fans, the glow of raised cellphones, men dressed in monster costumes and the rumors of a Zola Jesus appearance (she was in town and guests on their album), M83 played a show drenched in spectacular neon at Terminal 5 last night (5/11). No Zola Jesus, but plenty of synth bombast. Pictures from the show are in this post.

Dipping into their recent Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming and including stops along the way for cuts from Saturdays = Youth, M83’s set was one of THREE scheduled in NYC in the next few months, including a stop at a sold-out Summerstage in August and another at Hammerstein Ballroom in October. The band did Chicago and Coachella recently (week 1 and week 2 in pics) and will fill in the holes in between NYC stops with other US dates and festival stops like Lollapalooza and Bumbershoot.

Swedish shoegazers I Break Horses opened the evening with quiet, lilting melodies and if you missed them, they too will return to NYC very soon: hit Mercury Lounge on May 30th.
