Sinkane opens for Ava Luna at Merc tonight and then begins a Zebulon residency next week.

Real Estate headlines Webster Hall tonight. An ex-Real Estate member plays in Splash at Cake Shop.

The Security Project hit BB King’s tonight. Who is that, you say?

Former members of Peter Gabriel‘s band and King Crimson reunite for an incredible premiere show, performing music from Gabriel’s Security (1982) and Plays Live (1983) albums, as well as a few sonic surprises. The evening will feature the same extra-instrumental lineup as Gabriel had on the infamous Security Tour: Jerry Marotta on drums; Trey Gunn on bass and Warr Guitar; Fuzzbee Morese on guitar, keyboards, saxophone, and flute; David Jameson on keyboards; and Josh Gleason on vocals. Larry Fast has provided original keyboard sounds, samples, and sequences.

Today is the second Summer Streets of 2012.

Tonight’s Shiner show was recently moved from Irving Plaza to Gramercy Theater.

Katie Goodman, not to be confused with Katy Goodman of the Vivian Girls, is playing Joe’s Pub tonight.

The reunited Braid play their second of two NYC shows today, with Owen.

Artists playing the free Roots of American Music Festival, part of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, today include Otis Clay, Nona Hendryx, Melba Moore, Desmond Child, Felix Cavaliere, Toni Wine, Charlotte Crossley, Ula Hedwig, Abenaa, Diane Garisto, The Ebony Hillbillies, Bernard Purdie, Terry Burrus, Bashiri Johnson, and Curtis Fowlkes.

FringeNYC runs through August 16.
