Moon King releasing new EP, playing SXSW, touring with Born Ruffians (dates, MP3)

Moon King are set to release the second EP in their Obsession series. It will be out April 20 via One Big Silence, the label run by Fucked Up’s Mike Haliechuk. You can download “Appel” from Obession II above and stream it below. With heavily effected guitars and some majorly late-’80s booming snare, it falls somewhere between Lush and JAMC (which is A-OK by me) with a big, anthemic chorus. Nice.
As mentioned, Moon King play Shea Stadium on Tuesday (3/6) with Ava Luna, Leapling and The Can’t Tells (tickets). The band will then head to — you guessed it — Austin for SXSW and soon after hook up with fellow Canadians Born Ruffians for a tour that will bring them back to NYC on April 16 at Bowery Ballroom (tickets) and April 18 at Maxwell’s (tickets).
