Kaki King

Kaki King, who just busked in a Subway station last Saturday (4/20) (did anyone see her?) came to her old stomping grounds of Mercury Lounge last night (4/25) for two shows. The first was a 10th anniversary show for her debut album, Everybody Loves You, which she first celebrated at Mercury Lounge upon its initial CD release. For that set, Kaki King played entirely solo. But for the second set, she brought out a full band to play stuff from the span of entire career. During the set, Kaki talked about how she used to work the showroom bar at Mercury Lounge, and hinted at some upcoming stuff like a rarities album, a tour with a chamber ensemble, and a commission at Carnegie Hall. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for details on all that.
