She & Him played Central Park Summerstage with Camera Obscura (pics); do it again tonight

“Is anyone here from Ottawa?” Deschanel asked at one point in the show, a reference to where She & Him played on July 4, and the kind of of course non sequitur fans might expect from the “New Girl” star and empress of all things quirk. Yet despite Deschanel’s de rigueur bangs, made(well)-to-order attire and an overall sense of twee emanating from the stage, She & Him put on a very solid, low-key show, one that the band’s fans seemed to enjoy even while sweating out of pores they likely didn’t realize existed. Despite that 90+ heat — made a little more bearable by Summerstage’s wooded surroundings — folks did indeed come out on Saturday (7/6) for the cool sounds of She & Him who were smartly paired with their Merge labelmates Camera Obscura for their first of two shows at Central Park Summerstage. She and Him, and Camera Obscura — who both also recently hit Chicago — have their second Summerstage show with tonight (7/8). Tickets are still available.
