Red Fang and Doomriders releasing new albums, playing free Converse Rubber Tracks show w/ Low Fat Getting High (dates)
Red Fang – ‘Whales and Leeches’
Converse Rubber Tracks Live just announced a free Music Hall of Williamsburg show (8/9) with Glassjaw, Balance & Composure, and World’s Fair (which is already “sold” out), and they’ve now announced another free Brooklyn show taking place this month as well. Portland sludge beasts Red Fang will team up with Doomriders (fronted by Converge bassist Nate Newton) and one of Brooklyn’s better young punk bands, Low Fat Getting High, for a free, all ages show at 285 Kent on August 22. Though it’s free, you do need tickets, and those go on “sale” August 8 at 10 AM.
Red Fang recently announced that their new album, Whales and Leeches, will be out in October via Relapse Records. The album was produced by Chris Funk of fellow Portland band The Decemberists (whose singer, Colin Meloy, just announced a solo tour), and mixed by Vance Powell, whose known for his work with The White Stripes. That’s the album artwork above.
Doomriders also just announced a new album, Grand Blood, which will be out on October 15 via Deathwish. It was produced by Nate’s Converge bandmate (and all-around metal production wizard) Kurt Ballou, and will feature artwork by Thomas Hooper and packaging by Ryan Patterson, frontman of Coliseum (who you can also see for free in Brooklyn this month). As usual, Low Fat Getting High have other upcoming local shows, including a previously discussed Pianos (8/27) show with The Can’t Tells; another on August 17 at Rippers on Rockaway Beach with a stacked local line up of Sleepies, Eula, Big Ups, and Shark? (flyer below); and one at Grand Victory on September 28.
