Last week the folks behind Celebrate Brooklyn! opened the year-round BRIC House facility in the former Strand Theatre space on Fulton in downtown Brooklyn. Opening night (10/3) featured a live performance by reggae legend Burning Spear who is still going strong as his classic Marcus Garvey album nears its 40th anniversary. Opening the night were performers from OneBeat, a State-funded educational initiative from the Bang on a Can folks. Pictures from BRIC House’s opening night are in this post.
Upcoming events in the performance space include a dance party on Saturday (10/12) with Que Bajo?! and Gregorio Uribe Big Band, and two performances from Emily Wells on October 18 (7:30 & 9:30 PM). Full schedule and tickets for upcoming BRIC House shows are here.
In addition to the performance space, the BRIC House also has artist studios, a gallery, a public access television production center, a cafe and more.
