Special Explosion releasing an EP on Topshelf, touring w/ Teen Suicide, Sorority Noise & Alex G (dates & streams)

Seattle indie rockers Special Explosion began picking up speed with some self-released material in 2012, and they’ve just signed to Topshelf Records, who will release their forthcoming EP, The Art of Mothering, on February 25. There’s a real early Death Cab vibe to the new record (especially in the vocals), but they’re good songwriters in their own right too. You can stream the EP’s first single, “Clotheslined” (via Stereogum), below. Also below is a stream of their old EP, which you can also buy (name your price) on bandcamp.
Special Explosion are also heading out on a tour this year which includes a run with Teen Suicide (Sam Ray of Julia Brown), Sorority Noise and Alex G, which will make for some consistently solid bills. That run brings those four bands to Brooklyn on February 27 at Suburbia (330 Melrose St).
