The Young played Union Pool, going on full tour, including 2 more NYC shows (dates)

Austin’s The Young are putting out their new LP Chrome Cactus on August 26 via Matador and it’s a killer dose of psychedelic punk. They were in NYC for a pre-release show at Union Pool over the weekend (6/27, anyone go?) and they’ll be heading out on a full tour following the album’s release. The tour brings them back to NYC for shows on September 11 at Glasslands and September 12 at Mercury Lounge. Tickets for the Glasslands show are on sale now, and tickets for the Merc show go on sale Wednesday (7/2) at noon. No openers for those shows have been announced yet, but select dates on the tour are with Radioactivity (who played NYC last night), Milk ‘n’ Cookies (who play NYC this week), Potty Mouth and more. All dates are listed below.

The only song the band have released from the new record so far is the very promising “Metal Flake,” but they’ll be playing a few new songs on WFMU today (7/1) at 2 PM EST. You can listen here.
