Jane’s Addiction in Times Square – 10/12/14

Following Devo‘s set in Times Square during NYC’s multi-venue CBGB Fest on Sunday (10/12), there was a set from pop musician Robert Delong and then veteran alt-rockers Jane’s Addiction. Jane’s stuck almost entirely to Nothing’s Shocking material, and the whole thing was quite a spectacle. They had exotic dancers on stage, who went from dancing on a bench to being suspended by their skin to dance in mid-air. Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro were both rock stars, and Perry was his usual sex-driven self, telling the crowd “I wanna get my dick sucked!” (three times) and asking in return, “Who wants to get their pussy licked?” He also told his story of meeting Dave Navarro (“the best fucking guitarist you’ll ever hear in your life”) and latter added, “You know what’s a good way to get laid? Play guitar like Dave Navarro!” The possibly confused Perry kept saying Jane’s Addiction should do this in Times Square every Friday because of the Sabbath (it was Sunday), and after playing “Stop!” he tried to start an encore but “the man was telling them no” and the PA was shut off before they could.

The day before the Times Square show, Jane’s also played the Icon Award Ceremony at CBGB Fest headquarters Center 548, which was a “private event with celebrity guests.” We’ve got pictures of that event and the Times Square show.
