What's going on Tuesday? (Jessie Ware, No Devotion, Adrian Belew, Jayhawks, Pallbearer, Boots, Slothrust & more)

Jessie Ware @ Webster Hall, 2013 (more by Robert Altman)
Jessie Ware

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Jessie Ware @ Brooklyn Masonic Temple
Jessie Ware has come a long way since we first heard her featured on SBTRKT’s first album. Her sophomore LP, Tough Love, is out now and sees her working with some bigger names (like Ed Sheeran) on some songs, but she keeps her more minimal pop vibes intact on others. Tonight is sold out.

Adrian Belew Power Trio, Saul Zonana @ Highline Ballroom
Robert Fripp’s 2014 version of King Crimson (which doesn’t include Adrian Belew) was here not long ago, but if you’re a fan of the flavor Belew gave that band, you can get your fix tonight. His Power Trio has been dipping pretty heavily into the Crimson catalog lately.

No Devotion, Ricky Eat Acid, Black Clouds, Creepoid @ Glasslands
Since the breakup of Thursday, frontman Geoff Rickly has actually become more prolific. This year he’s been focusing on two bands that he fronts, the post-hardcore wall of noise that is United Nations and the synth rock band he formed with the non-criminal members of Lostprophets, No Devotion. Tonight’s No Devotion’s first US show, and with good openers too.

Pallbearer, Tombs, Vattnet Viskar, Ecstatic Vision @ Saint Vitus
Doom masters Pallbearer released Foundations of Burden, their second album that’s heavy with melancholic leads, redwood-thick riffs, and sorrowful singing. This is the first of two sold-out shows as part of their tour with Tombs and Vattnet Viskar.

Mötley Crüe, Alice Cooper @ Madison Square Garden
Hair metal giants Motley Crüe are on a massive farewell tour — they signed a contract saying they’d never tour again — so if you’re needing to rock out to “Dr. Feelgood,” “Kickstart My Heart,” “Home Sweet Home” and more you’re running out of chances. Needless to say, the Crüe are pulling out all the stops for this one. Fellow friend of the devil Alice Cooper opens.

Boots, Flan Emoji (DJ Set), DJ JR @ Baby’s All RIght
Boots has been having a pretty busy year. He did a large amount of the production and co-writing on Beyonce’s excellent self-titled album, he’s got a tour with FKA twigs coming up, and he’s on the new Run the Jewels album and will perform with them on Letterman this week. FIrst though, he plays his own show at Baby’s tonight.

The Allman Brothers Band @ Beacon Theatre
The current lineup of The Allman Brothers Band has had a very long and impressive run, but sadly the band has chosen to retire at the end of this month. They’ll go out with a bang though, with six shows in eight nights at the Beacon. Tonight’s the very last one.

Slothrust, The Teen Age @ Cameo
Jangly and grungy in equal parts, Slothrust released their most recent album Of Course You Do early this year (though it would’ve fit in perfect in 1995). This show, which is Halloween-related, is free with RSVP.

Sinead O’Connor @ City Winery
The Irish singer released, I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss, earlier this year and begins her three-night run at City Winery this evening.

The Memories, The Chickenhawks, Milk Dick, Jupiter Boys @ Death by Audio
Portland, OR duo of Erik Gage and Kyle Handley (who are both in White Fang too) write songs mainly about girls and getting high, the two pillars of rock n’ roll — though The Memories fall more on the lo-fi pop end of the spectrum. They’ll play Cake Shop tomorrow as well.

Drowners, Boytoy, Sunflower Bean @ Rough Trade
Somewhere between The Strokes and The Libertines. NYC pretty boy rock band Drowners do write pretty catchy songs. Tonight’s show is with the Breeders-y Boytoy and paisley poppers Sunflower Bean.

Wilco @ The Capitol Theatre
Though Jeff Tweedy and his son just released their terrific Tweedy album, the Wilco train rarely stops rolling, and tonight pulls into its first of three shows at The Cap’. It’s a lovely room and tickets are still available.

Mozart’s Sister, Salt Catherdral, My Body @ The Studio at Webster Hall
Mozart’s Sister, the solo project from Caila Thompson-Hannant (Think About Life, Shapes & Sizes), mixes mid-’90s dance and R&B influences, Thompson definitely brings her own strong personality. She’s always been an engaging performer, so this is definitely worth checking out.

The Jayhawks @ Town Hall
Long-running Americana band The Jayhawks are coming up on their 30th anniversary, and just reissued their three post-Mark Olson albums — 1997’s Sound of Lies , 2000’s Smile and 2003’s Rainy Day Music.  That said, they still mix up the setlists pretty good — expect a good assortment from throughout their career (and a couple Golden Smog songs too).

Misfits, Jasta @ Irving Plaza
This may not be the version of the Misfits you love the most, but if you’re going to see it anytime, Halloween week would be it.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
