2015 NYC Podfest line-up & schedule: Kevin Allison, Yo La Tengo, Todd Barry, 'The Daily Show,' Gilbert Gottfried & more
Now in its third year, the NYC Podfest brings the best of, you guessed it, podcasts from across the country to New York for a fun-filled audio-based weekend (January 9 – 11). This year festival founder Jeremy Wein is bringing bigger names than ever to The Bell House (Friday, January 9) and Fontana’s (Saturday, January 10 and Sunday, January 11). Tickets are on sale now. Things kick off at The Bell House with Kevin Allison‘s (The State) RISK! podcast. This show has become hugely successful online and in LA, where its monthly live show consistently packs the Nerdist Theater at The Meltdown. The show, which has featured Marc Maron, Sarah Silverman, Janeane Garofalo, Lisa Lampanelli, and more, asks its guests to reveal personal, often embarrassing stories about themselves that they thought they would never tell. This show’s theme is “Butts” and features Sasheer Zamata (SNL), stand up Matt Braunger, and more TBA.
Other interesting shows include a podcast panel on 1/10 at Fontana’s (tickets) hosted by Jason Zinoman of The New YorkTimes featuring podcast experts Dave Hill (WFMU’s The Goddamn Dave Hill Show), Julie Klausner (How Was Your Week?, and Matt Braunger (Ding-Donger with Matt Braunger); later that same evening at Fontana’s, it’s “The Daily Show Podcast without Jon Stewart” (featuring Hasan Minhaj and Executive Producer Adam Lowitt); and Fontana’s on Sunday 1/11 at 8PM it’s The Todd Barry Podcast with special guests Yo La Tengo.
