UK act Virginia Wing released 'Measures of Joy' (listen)

Virgina Wing

South London group Virginia Wing have been together for nearly three years, and have been slowly perfecting a strain of chilly kraut-psych that is complex, clinical and quite gorgeous. The band released their debut album, Measures of Joy, last month via Fire and fans of Broadcast, Stereolab and the krautrock classics should seek this out immediately. While there are echoes of those other groups (and early-’80s postpunk), Virginia Wing manage to make it their own. Measures of Joy is a terrific (and terrific-sounding) record. You can check out the video for “Marnie,” a stream of album standouts “World Contact” and “Meshes,” as well as a Rdio stream of the whole LP, below.

No word on any impending North American visits. Stay tuned.
