Hop Along

Philly’s Hop Along recently signed to Saddle Creek for their new album, and now that album’s officially been announced. It’s called Painted Shut and will be out on May 5 via their new label home (pre-order), and the first single “Waitress” is out now. They recorded it with John Agnello, who knows how give rock bands a clear sound that’s still raw and powerful (he’s worked with Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr, for example), and that’s exactly how “Waitress” sounds. It’s up there with the harder-hitting rockers on Painted Shut‘s great predecessor Get Disowned, and with Frances Quinlan’s distinct voice, it’s unmistakably Hop Along. You can and should check it out below (via Noisey).

Hop Along have several dates with The War on Drugs coming up, and after that they’ll go on a headlining tour which hits NYC on May 5 at Rough Trade with Thin Lips and May 10 at Baby’s All Right. Tickets for Rough Trade go on sale Friday (3/13) at noon, and tickets for Baby’s should be on sale soon.

All dates are listed, with the new song stream, below…
