Annabel streaming new album, 'Having It All,' opening The Appleseed Cast's 'Mare Vitalis' tour (win tix to NYC!)

by Andrew Sacher

Annabel

Kent, OH’s Annabel are releasing their new album, Having It All, next week (6/9) via Tiny Engines (pre-order), and today they’re streaming it in full. Annabel are one of the many newer bands diving into late ’90s/early ’00s emo, but Kinsella worship this is not. They go for the punchier stuff like Knapsack, The Get Up Kids’ Four Minute Mile, Jimmy Eat World’s “No Sensitivity,” etc — emo that keeps its punk influence (or at least its Superchunk influence) on display. And Annabel do that sound really well too. Listen for yourself below (via A.V. Club), and since this is emo we’re talking about, if you want to read the lyrics, they’re posted for every song on the new album at the band’s tumblr.

As previously mentioned, Annabel are going on tour with an actual emo band from that era, The Appleseed Cast, who will be playing their fantastic 2000 album Mare Vitalis in full for its 15th anniversary. Additional support comes from another modern band, Dads. The tour hits NYC on July 28 at The Studio at Webster Hall. I’ll also be DJing at that show before the bands go on and in between sets (doors are at 7). Tickets for the show are still available, and we’re giving away two pairs. Enter the contest below…
