Belle & Sebastian finally brought their Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance tour to NYC (the album came out in January), playing the tony digs that are Radio City Music Hall. The band long ago outgrew their shy, understated demeanor and have been consumate showmen for some time, but this was their biggest production yet, with projections and a quartet of dancers for certain songs. It’s not just Girls in Peacetime who want to dance for “The Boy With the Arab Strap,” though, and they brought up selected members of the crowd to boogie onstage for that one — a standard B&S move for some time, but is always fun. Speaking of bringing people up, Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls came out to sing on old chesnut “Lazy Line Painter Jane.”

Opening were Real Estate whose gentle jangle made for a nice lead-in to the Belle & Sebastian Revue. More pictures from the whole night — and Belle & Sebastian’s setlist — are below.
