Sex Witch Bat For Lashes, TOY & Dan Carey

Bat For Lashes’ Natasha Khan, producer Dan Carey and UK band TOY have formed a collaborative group called Sexwitch who will release their debut album on September 29. Khan and Carey had collaborated previously in 2013, covering an obscure Iranian folk song “The Bride.” They got the itch to find more obscurities from around the world and after deciding on six tracks (including Skip Spence’s “War in Peace”), Khan enlisted TOY as the backing band. (Dan Carey produced both TOY albums and Bat for Lashes’ 2012 album The Haunted Man.) The first track to be released from the album is another Iranian song, “Helelyos,” which on their cover has a distinct Can rhythm-heavy flavor to it. You can stream it below.

Sexwitch will play Saturday (8/29) at London’s XOYO.
