Los Lobos released 'Gates of Gold,' touring, playing three nights at City Winery in December (dates)

Legendary LA band Los Lobos released their 17th studio album, Gates of Gold, on September 25. This is the band’s first studio album in five years, yet they still prove to be as strong as ever. The new tracks are reminiscent of the narratives from Kiko but have a fresh sound that showcases their versatility. Louie Perez, one of Los Lobos’ founding members, told Hollywood Soapbox about the new LP:
Everybody trusts that when David and I go off to write songs for a new record, when Cesar goes off to write his songs, and then ultimately when we all get back and get to the studio to record it, there’s just trust that this is the next musical chapter. And we know that we have the confidence in each other that the material that’s going to come in, nothing is as subjective as art, but we all have this trust that it’s going to be good, and it’s something that is worth our time and energy to put into the studio. I think it’s all a matter of the intuition we have with each other.
The band is currently on tour promoting their new album and will, as in years past, play a string of holiday shows at NYC’s City Winery, playing three nights (December 19, 20 & 21). Tickets are on sale now.
