Rockie Fresh streaming new mixtape 'The Night I Went To...'

Rockie Fresh

Chicago rapper Rockie Fresh returned with a new mixtape today called The Night I Went To…. It’s only really a “mixtape” because it’s free; the 13-song collection (one bonus track included) is highly cohesive and certainly better than what another artist might call an “album.” His MMG boss Rick Ross raps a verse on “Your Life,” and the more shrug-worthy guests Ed Sheeran and Chris Brown show up on “Are You With Me” and “Call Me (When It’s Over),” respectively. The former of those samples Jai Paul’s “Jasmine,” with Ed singing the hook. A Jai Paul sample fits right in on this album too — most songs have slower tempos, atmospheric electronics, and pitched-up soulful vocal samples. Rockie sounds real smooth over the whole thing.
