A$AP Ferg

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Lamb of God, Anthrax, Deafheaven, Power Trip @ Hammerstein Ballroom
NWOAHM giants Lamb of God headline this show, but we’re especially excited about the openers: thrash legends Anthrax, atmospheric black metallers Deafheaven, and crossover revival greats Power Trip.

G-Eazy, A$AP Ferg, Marc E. Bassy, Nef The Pharaoh @ Terminal 5
A$AP Ferg’s new album is supposed to come next month, and the singles we’ve heard from it so far are making it seem very promising. This is his second to last of three T5 shows with G-Eazy, Marc E. Bassy, and Nef The Pharaoh. (The run now ends tomorrow, since 1/23 was cancelled.)

Julien Baker, Eskimeaux @ Rough Trade
Young singer/songwriter Julien Baker’s bare-bones debut album Sprained Ankle was one of our favorites of last year, and the command she has as a live performer is maybe even more impressive. This is her second of two NYC shows on this tour. Local DIY-pop artist Eskimeaux opens.

Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals @ SOB’s
After getting a serious profile rise due to singing on six tracks on Dr. Dre’s new album, singer/rapper Anderson .Paak just put out his own newest LP, Malibu, and it more than lives up to the hype. Tonight’s show is sold out. UPDATE: Postponed to a TBD date.

McCoy Tyner Trio w/ special guest Gary Bartz @ Blue Note (two shows)
Legendary jazz pianist McCoy Tyner, who was a longtime member of John Coltrane’s band (among many other projects), plays two shows at the Blue Note today. He’ll be joined by past collaborator and fellow jazz veteran Gary Bartz.

Night Train with Guest Host Aparna Nancherla, Sean Patton, Chris Lamberth, Mo Mandel, Megan Gailey @ Littlefield
Aparna Nancherla takes over for regular host Wyatt Cenac at the weekly Night Train comedy show tonight, and other guests include Sean Patton, Chris Lamberth, Mo Mandel, Megan Gailey and more.
