Earlier this year, UK rock mag Kerrang posted a map of the United States of Metal, where they offered “our definitive, objective, indisputable list of the single best heavy metal band from every U.S. state.” Now they've done the same for hardcore (which, again, is "definitive, objective, indisputable"). There are a few that seem tough to argue, like Minor Threat for DC (listed as a "bonus" since DC isn't technically a state), 7Seconds for Nevada, and Misfits for New Jersey, but, as much as we love the new album, isn't a little soon to say Turnstile is the best hardcore band from Maryland? And as great as they are, are Agnostic Front really the best of the many great New York Hardcore bands? One bright side is Kerrang kinda got to pick two NYHC bands, since Youth of Today are technically from Connecticut.

Other winners: Black Flag for California, Poison Idea for Oregon, MDC for Texas, Husker Du for Minnesota, Modern Life Is War for Iowa, Die Kreuzen for Wisconsin, Negative Approach for Michigan, Zero Boys for Indiana, Integrity for Ohio, Scream for Virginia, Paint It Black for Pennsylvania, SS Decontrol for Massachusetts, and more.

Check out all of Kerrang's picks on the map above and read commentary here.
