King and Queen Mermaid for the 37th annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade have been announced. Siblings Arlo and Nora Guthrie will serve as Mermaid Royalty and lead the 2019 edition of the parade, which happens on June 22. The parade route is just over a mile away from the stretch of Mermaid Ave, between W35th and W36th Streets, that's been rechristened Woody Guthrie Way in honor of their late father.

Registration for the Coney Island Mermaid Parade is open now, and you can find more details about it here. As usual, the 2019 edition starts at 1 PM at West 21st St and Surf Ave. It heads east from there to W 10th St, where it turns south towards the boardwalk. Marchers and push-pull floats head west on the boardwalk to W 17th St, while cars and motorized floats continue on Surf Ave instead, passing W 10th St and exiting the parade. Check out pictures from last year's parade in the gallery below.

Arlo Guthrie has more "Alice's Restaurant - Back by Popular Demand" tour dates coming up through June, including Tarrytown Music Hall on June 9 (tickets). After that, he opens for Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band at Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center on August 16, one of the Woodstock 50th anniversary weekend events happening at the site of the original festival (not to be confused with the big three-day Woodstock 50 festival happening in Watkins Glen the same weekend). Tickets are on sale now.
