Atlas Obscura took over Yonkers, NY's beautiful Untermyer Gardens Conservancy for their annual Great Forgotten Garden Party on Sunday (7/28). This year's affair was pushed back a weekend from its original date of July 21 because of the oppressive heat wave, and with temperatures slightly down guests were much better able to enjoy music, food, and performance art throughout the sprawling gardens. There were water nymphs, belly dancers, libations, a bug whisperer, picnicking, and a chance to meander around the gorgeous grounds, with plenty of people dressed up for the occasion. After the sun went down, theremin virtuoso Armen Ra and jazzy, danceable pop act Mr Twin Sister performed. Check out pictures from the whole day in the gallery above.

Atlas Obscura hosts unique, immersive events all over the world, in cemeteries, theatres, museums, prisons, mansions and beyond. They have a session on medicinal herbs and berries at Fort Tryon Park coming up in NYC; see all of their coming events here.
