Austra shares first new song in 3 years, announces tour dates
Austra is back with her first new single since 2017’s Future Politics. Featuring a skittering beat, warm horn pulses and pitched-up vocals, “Risk It” is an instantly appealing track and it also marks the first time Katie Stelmanis worked with external collaborators outside her usual circle. Rodaidh McDonald and Joseph Shabason assisted on production duties and “Risk It” also features kamanche (Kurdish violin) and cello from Canadian duo Kamancello as well as percussion from noise artists c_RL. Austra has also announced a few live dates, including a hometown Toronto show on May 5 and an intimate Brooklyn show at The Sultan Room on May 7. Tickets for the Sultan Room show will be on sale soon. From there, Austra heads to Europe — all dates are listed below.
