Australian band Totally Mild playing NYC before SXSW

totally-mild

You may remember Melbourne quartet Totally Mild from their excellent 2015 album Down Time. As I wrote then:

What began as as a solo project for songwriter Elizabeth Mitchell soon turned into a full band…Mitchell is possessed with an ethereal voice, prone to falsetto and is probably the most striking thing about the band, but it wouldn’t be so without her lovely songs and the just-so jangly arrangements.

If you haven’t checked out Down Time, you really should and you can stream it along with a live EP they put out last year, below.

Totally Mild will be in the U.S. for SXSW and are stopping in NYC first for a few shows this week. They’ll play Rough Trade on Thursday, March 9 with Swaai Boys and Radiant Reveries (tickets); then Matchless on Friday (3/10) with Dread and fellow Aussies Zone Out and The Ocean Party (they’re no longer on Matchless show); and then The Delancey on Saturday (3/11) which is also with Zone Out as well as Gabrielle Marlena, Bay Faction and Middle Child ($10 at the door). The band’s SXSW schedule is in a flyer below.

You can also check out a few songs from Zone Out and The Ocean Party below as well.
