Australia's Parsnip share gorgeous "Rip it Off" video, touring around Gonerfest

Australian band Parsnip will release their debut album, When The Tree Bears Fruit, on August 30 via Trouble in Mind. A name like Parsnip might conjure words such as jangly, whimsical and baroque, and that’s pretty on-the-money here; you can hear it with the band’s appealing new single “Rip it Off,” which falls somewhere between ’60s paisley pop and early-’80s post punk. “To me ‘Rip It Off’ came from a feeling of being hung up on what the future holds, living in a haze of concern, and so missing out on your life as it’s happening,” says the band’s Stella Rennex. “I suppose it is a song about worrying…the fruitlessness of incessant worry.” The song is paired with a gorgeously shot, very whimsical video of the band out in the elements in a variety of costumes. The video fits the song perfectly and you can watch that, and listen to another song off the record, below.

Parsnip will be in the U.S. in September for the 2019 edition of Gonerfest and will tour around it, including stops in Chicago, Detroit, Philly, Baltimore, Nashville, St. Louis, Minneapolis and more. They’ve got two days slotted for NYC (September 19 & 20) with venues and other details still TBA. Stay tuned. All dates are listed below.
