Australia's The Goon Sax made their NYC debut w/ 2 shows (Knitting Factory pics)

Australia’s The Goon Sax are on their first-ever visit to the U.S. and just played two NYC shows as part of it: Wednesday (6/6) at Union Pool and a Northside show on Thursday (6/7) at Knitting Factory that was with Lou Barlow and Shana Falana. The trio seemed a little shaky/shambly at the start of their Union Pool show — first show in NYC can do that sometimes — but they grew more confident as it went. They played a bunch of songs from their forthcoming We’re Not Talking, some favorites from their debut (including my favorite, “Home Haircuts”) and a great, sped-up cover of Country Teasers’ “Golden Apples.” Pictures from their Knitting Factory are in the gallery above.

The Goon Sax head to Los Angeles to play The Echo on Sunday (6/10) but hopefully they’ll be back sometime after their album is released in September.
