Axis: Sova prep third LP (listen to "New Disguise"), touring w/ David Nance Group
Axis: Sova, the Chicago group led by Brett Sova, will release their third album, Shampoo You, on November 16 via Ty Segall’s God imprint (via Drag City). The current trio version of the group — Sova along with Tim Kaiser (guitar) and Jeremy Freeze (bass) — recorded the album live to tape. We’ve got the premiere of “New Disguise” which which is new wave rock wake up call. “Its narrator struggles to fit in and find a place in this world before experiencing a moment of self-assured awareness, discovering those around them to be alien,” says main man Brett Sova. “We’ve all been there at some point — spent time existing in a bizzare void of apathy and lethargy, perpetuating sameness all around us, noticing nearly everyone we know exists there, too, for a time. There’s jolt in the skull when that switch is flipped–and suddenly life can feel very much like a wide-eyed scene from They Live, or Invasion of the Body Snatchers.’New Disguise’ is kind of like the sound of that jolt, signaling the time to put on the sunglasses and avoid the pod people!” You can listen to Axis: Sova chew bubblegum and kick ass, below.
