Aztec Camera's Roddy Frame releasing new solo LP (stream a track), plans to "tour internationally"

You may remember that Domino reissued Aztec Camera’s classic 1984 debut, High Land Hard Rain, earlier this year. It’s been a good year for fans as frontman Roddy Frame also released a new solo album, Seven Dials, which was his first in eight years. That voice of his remains in remarkable form and he still has a way with melody and a turn of phrase. And the production is nicely understated that will no doubt appeal to fans of High Land Hard Rain. There’s more ties to the past too: the album was released by AED, the label started by Edwyn Collins, and it contains a song called “Postcard,” which is also the name of the famed Scottish indie label that Orange Juice and Aztec Camera once called home. That song also has a flamenco-ish solo straight out of his old band’s hit, “Oblivious.” You can stream that song in this post.

Roddy’s new album will get a US release on August 19 via AED. The press release says Roddy will “internationally tour later this year.” Let’s hope that includes North America.
