Babefest

Babefest announces 2018 lineup (Ani DiFranco, Torres, Amy Leon)

Babefest — a festival advocating for pro-choice political action — debuted in Buffalo in 2016, happened in Massachusetts last year, and it moves to Brooklyn for its third year, happening at Warsaw on September 21. The festival will feature a musical/spoken word performance from event curator Ani DiFranco, and additional musical performances by Torres, Amy Leon, and the Resistance Revival Chorus. Other speakers at the fest include Lucinda Guinn and Miranda Becker. Here’s more about Babefest via the festival’s event page:

As the midterm elections loom in the near future, activist/feminist/singer/author Ani DiFranco is actively rounding up the troops to take action. DiFranco continues to urge those around her to “Rise Up” and get active in regards to voting. This effort is the third annual Babefest, a festival of music, community and activism taking place September 21 at Warsaw in Brooklyn, NY.

The festival was created in partnership with Emily’s List, a political committee that helps elect pro-choice Democratic women into office. Tickets are on sale now, and you can read more about the event here.
