Bad Moves made a "songs to chill and crossword to" playlist for their interactive crossword puzzle

With the coronavirus pandemic keeping many of us home a lot more, we’ve been asking artists about the music they’ve been listening to in isolation, and this uniquely themed playlist comes from DC indie-punks Bad Moves, who’s upcoming album, Untenable, is out on June 26 via Don Giovanni (pre-order).

Bad Moves not only have the album on the way, but they also have an accompanying interactive crossword puzzle (made by their friend Jeremy Koenig and featured the crossword in their new video for “End of Time”), so, following suit, their playlist is called “songs to chill and crossword to.” The band included tracks from artists such as Kero Kero Bonito, Little Simz, Yaeji, Phoenix, Ratboys, Adult Mom, Roy Ayer Ubiquity, Taylor Swift, Shuggie Otis, Madness, The New Amsterdams, Sly & The Family Stone (more specifically, their track “Crossword Puzzle”), and much more.

The band says:

Sometimes when things feel out of control, it can be nice to throw yourself into a problem you know you can solve. That’s often the appeal of a crossword puzzle. You can lose yourself in it, a distraction from outside circumstances, but it’s also not mindless. When things feel uncertain you can reclaim a little bit of your agency working line by line towards a solution. Well, things have never felt more uncertain than now. Fortunately, we have this Bad Moves themed crossword to share with anyone looking for a distraction. To accompany it, we’ve also put together this playlist of tunes we might listen to while working on a crossword puzzle. Happy solving!
